What is the Invisalign orthodontic treatment process step by step?
Phase 1: Prior oral examination
Before starting Invisalign treatment, we will perform an orthodontic study that includes the following actions:
- Photographs
- Mouth X-ray.
- 3D intraoral scan.
With this information we perform the orthodontic study.
Phase 2: Treatment presentation
At the second appointment at the dental clinic, we show the patient the results and explain the treatment plan in detail.
This is when the patient will see what the final result of the treatment will look like, before starting it.
Phase 3: First aligners and attachment placement
When you come to the third visit for Invisalign orthodontic treatment, we give the patient the first clear aligners and place the attachments that are necessary according to the study performed in the first phase.
In addition, we will explain the instructions for placement, cleaning and general use of the clear aligners.
Phase 4: Periodic renewal of clear aligners
From here, approximately every 2 months, we will deliver new aligners that will adjust to the new position of the teeth and we will verify that the treatment follows the correct progression.
Phase 5: Refinement actions
Once the treatment is finished, we will take a new scan of the mouth to be able to manufacture, if necessary, new aligners that allow us to refine the case.
Phase 6: Retention
Finally, we will take measurements to make retention appliances. These are necessary to prevent the teeth from shifting back to their original position.
